More than 30,000 Muslims gathered together this weekend to promote peaceful Islam and condemn ISIS.
They met at the largest Islamic convention in the U.K. in Hampshire.
The Jalsa Salana event saw the masses unite to condemn the misinterpretations of Islam, and to ‘promote the true, peaceful teachings of Islam’.
The people participating in the three day event were also there to denounce extremism and terrorism.
Ahmadiyya Muslim Community head Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said:
It is up to Muslims to stand up and reject all forms of extremism and terrorism. It is the task of Ahmadi Muslims to show the true teachings of Islam which are of peace love, mercy and compassion.
On Saturday, Masroor Ahmad, also known as the Caliph, was part of a ceremony celebrating women’s academic achievements.
Fresh food was prepared for the event, with over 270,000 meals prepared on site.
300,000 roti breads were prepared for the weekend.
The Caliph has spoken out on numerous occasions on matters of religious extremism.
He has called for mosques to be more open, and has said that mosques should let the authorities monitor them to help identify and root out extremists in the communities.
He said, before the event:
The only thing the terrorists are achieving is to completely violate the teachings of the Holy Quran and of the Holy Prophet Muhammad.
Let it be clear that they are not practising Islam, rather it seems as though they have invented their own hate-filled and poisonous religion.
To coincide with the event, an estimated 10 million Muslims declared support for their respective countries around the world yesterday.
The event was also beamed out to an estimated 80million people around the world, according to the organisers.
