If you only watch one video for the rest of your life, this has to be it.

Patrick Stewart has reinvented himself as a lonesome cowboy crooner in a ridiculous new ad for charity. And it’s amazing.

The ad for the actor’s ‘Cowboy Classics’ appeared online this weekend and shows ‘Cowboy Pat’ in chaps, belting out American classics like ‘Rawihde’, ‘Buttons and Bows’, and ‘El Paso’ in front of hilariously terrible green screen scenes.

In true American infomercial style, the ad includes several ‘but wait, there’s more’ offers, such as Cowboy Pat’s ‘Duets Out West’ and ‘Songs for Lonesome Lovers’, which promises ‘collaborations’ with Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood.

Wish the famed British actor, also described as ‘England’s premiere cowboy singer’ in the ad, would release a country Christmas album too? They’ve thought of that. The clip also features Cowboy Pat’s ‘Christmas On The Range’.

There’s even a website promoting the two-volume collection, a disc of duets and some holiday classics. But the supposed CD, vinyl, cassette, and 8-track versions are all tragically sold out – probably because they never existed.

But there is one set of country tunes you can buy: a five-song downloadable ‘Cowboy Classics Sampler’. Featuring Stewart singing ‘Ringo,’ ‘Buttons And Bows,’ ‘Don’t Fence Me In,’ ‘I’m An Old Cowhand’ (a duet with his wife singer songwriter Sunny Ozell) and ‘Here Comes Santa Claus,’ it all comes in at a cool $10 (£7.73).

Beyond the hilariousness and novelty of it though, there’s actually a worthy cause behind Cowboy Pat’s album. Proceeds from the sales will go to the International Rescue Committee, a humanitarian, relief and development organisation that helps victims of armed conflict and refugees around the world, Rolling Stone reports.

As the super-American infomercial commentator puts it, sometimes it takes an Englishman to teach us what’s great about being an American.
