Patrick Stewart Says He’s Becoming An American Citizen So He Can ‘Fight’ Against Trump

He’s saved the mutant world and the Starship Enterprise from the grasps of evil – and now he’s coming to save America.

Sir Patrick Stewart appeared on The View Wednesday to discuss his upcoming film Logan and the 50th anniversary of the Star Trek franchise, but he also dropped a major development in his personal life.

Discussing a recent tweet where Stewart joked he had a bad night’s sleep while just 300 yards from where Donald Trump lives, the topic of America’s current political situation came about.

Apparently, Stewart and his friends talked politics for three nights while the actor was visiting Washington. Inspired by the current state the U.S. now finds itself in, he decided to take action.

He’s applying to become an American citizen.

Speaking about his decision, Stewart told the women of The View:

I’m not a citizen, however, there is — maybe it’s the only good result of this election — I am now applying for citizenship because I want to be an American, too. Because all of my friends in Washington said there is one thing you can do: Fight, fight. Oppose, oppose. But I can’t do it [yet] because I’m not a citizen.

Stewart hasn’t been one to hide his political views in the past – particularly with Trump.

And while it’s not clear if he has applied yet or will apply in the near future, one thing’s for sure: He damn well plans to do it.
