A TikTok user has revealed how someone installed a Ring video doorbell to the side of their car's fuel tank to deter possible petrol thieves.
In a video shared by @outdoorfishing1, the user showed off the motorist's handy work and wrote across the clip: "With gas prices over $7 in California, ain't no mofo stealing my gas, got Ring installed."
It’s no surprise that the video has been viewed more than 9.3 million times, with many applauding his innovative use of the household device, which aims to improve home’s security by giving you sight of whoever is at your door.

The smart doorbell technology can record up to 25 feet outward from where it is fixed. It also has a two-way speaker which allows users to speak to the person at their door.
For it to work, customers also need a Wi-Fi connection so that it can upload to the Cloud.
After the video went viral, one TikTok user commented: "That really isn’t a bad idea."

"Dang @Ring we gonna [need] a camera for our car gas tank area…" another penned.
A third added: "That’s a good idea. Putting mine on my truck now lol."
Another commenter posted: "I'm sure the locking gas cap works just as well. But this is good. "
While another warned: "They will steal the ring and put it to their car and then it was just a waste of money."

Interestingly, it’s not the first time car owners have turned to the device for security. In March, images of the device attached to fuel tanks went viral after a local Detroit auto club, MMAC, posted it on Facebook.
In September, Ring, which is owned by Amazon, revealed that it would soon be launching an in-vehicle dash cam, and shared their plans to release a car alarm device.
According to CNN, fuel prices in the US have hit an average $5 per gallon (£4.09) for the very first time due to the ongoing war in Ukraine, as the West imposes sanctions on Russian oil.

Not only that, but an increased demand for gas during the summer travel season has also pushed demand and cost.
Drivers in California are among those who have been worst hit by increasing gas prices, with customers paying an average of $6.40 (£5.22) per gallon in comparison to the national average.
