A police report has revealed late rapper Lil Peep died in his sleep just hours before he was due to go on stage.

The rising star had taken a pre-show nap in Tucson, Arizona and never woke up.

Lil Peep’s manager says she saw him early Wednesday on his tour bus, where he appeared to be fine but revealed he then went to sleep at around 5:45pm.

When she checked on him soon after he was snoring and breathing with no signs of complications.

After attempting to wake him, she decided to let him sleep for a bit longer.

His other manager then checked on him later in the night – Lil Peep was completely unresponsive – his team began performing CPR in a desperate bid to save the young rapper’s life, TMZ report.

Police say there was several Xanax pills, marijuana and a ‘unknown tan powder’ at the scene upon arrival.

Lil Peep, real name Gustav Åhr, was reportedly taken to hospital following an overdose, according to music manager Adam Grandmaison, reports the Guardian.

The emerging emo rapper gained acclaim on YouTube, where his songs White WineBenz Truck and The Way I See Things have each gained over four million views, racking in a huge 57,789,427 views in total.

The tattooed artist’s work was of the SoundCloud generation, which strives for independence and total creativity with their music, with many critics pegging great things for him in the future.

The New York-born artist, who resided in London as of this year, is a member of GOTHBOICLIQUE alongside Lil Tracy, Mackned, Cold Hart and others, and his debut album, Come Over When You’re Sober, had just dropped in September.

Lil Peep was heavily involved in fashion, proudly displaying his own unique style while performing, and attending fashion week catwalk shows such as Balmain.

The musician sampled Radiohead, Underoath, Avenged Sevenfold, Slayer, The Postal Service, Oasis, and The Microphones in his songs.

In his last Instagram post, the emo rapper praised his fans for their beauty, sharing a photograph of three alongside a positive message with his loyal followers.

Hours before, the self-confessed ‘productive junkie’ shared a photograph of himself captioned ‘fucc it’.

Lil Peep was billed to play a gig the next night at The Observatory in Santa Ana, California.

His tour, which began in August, was penned to finish on November 17.

Peep was a truly modern artist who spoke to the deep emotions felt by his young fanbase and was declared ‘the future of emo’ before his untimely passing.

Lil Peeps’s uniquely melancholic mix of post-hardcore, lo-fi rap and emo-trap explored issues of suicide and drug use.

Our condolences go to his family, friends and fans.
