The man behind the wheel of the van, which crashed into Muslims as they left a mosque in Finsbury Park has been named Darren Osborne.
The 47-year-old white male, who has now been identified as a father of four who lived in Cardiff, was arrested after being pinned down by intervening members of the public.
Osborne grew up in Weston-super-Mare, North Somerset, but moved to Wales not too long ago.
According to the Mirror, an ex school-friend of Osborne’s said:
I went to school with him, I’ve known him for 35 years, it’s 100% him. He lives in Wales, he has four kids and a missus.
The attack left one person dead and injured eight when it took place shortly after midnight.
Scotland Yard confirmed one had died at the scene, while others continue to be treated in separate hospitals.

Finsbury Park Mosque chairman Mohammed Kozbar described the terror attack to The Sun, saying:
Whoever did this, he did it to hurt people and it’s a terrorist attack.
We call it a terrorist attack as we called it in Manchester, Westminster and London Bridge.
The van drove over people who were leaving late prayers. They were gathering in Seven Sisters Road.
More to follow.
