President Zelenskyy Says Another Mass Grave With 900 Bodies Has Been Found

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy claims that a mass grave has been found containing the bodies of 900 civilians in Kyiv Oblast.

Zelenskyy also claims that the Russian troops tried to hide their actions in quotes attributed to media in Poland.

Those reports, as cited by Pravda, quoted Zelenskyy as having said: “International institutions sometimes really do act quite slowly and sometimes...people cannot be held accountable due to the lack of evidence, despite the existence of eyewitnesses, despite everyone having seen it [the crime] take place.

"But they [Russian troops] also cover the evidence [of their crimes], take the mobile crematoria which Russians brought here and which they are using to burn people, to burn their dead bodies.

"Despite everything, they are searching and their searches are yielding results.

“Imagine, so many civilians were killed that despite the fact that they [the Russians] burned [some of the corpses in mobile crematoria], another mass grave has been found in Kyiv Region with the bodies of 900 civilians, 900 people!"

The war between Ukraine and Russia shows no signs of abating, with attacks stepping up in the nation’s capital.

Attacks occurred just an hour after Zelenskyy had met with the United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres on Thursday (28 April), who condemned attacks on civilians during his visit to the war zone.

Of the attacks, Zelenskyy said: "This says a lot about Russia's true attitude towards global institutions, about attempts of Russian authorities to humiliate the UN and everything that the organisation represent.

"Therefore, it requires corresponding powerful reaction."

So far, the European Union and United Kingdom has enacted sanctions and offered help to the Ukrainian military, but are reluctant to join the war because of the potential global consequences of challenging Russia directly.

Two weeks ago, another mass grave was reportedly found containing the corpses of 900 civilians near to the capital.

Zelenskyy also accuses Russian troops of occupying areas of Kherson and Zaporizhia in the country’s south, claiming that civilians are being terrorised and hunted for links to the Ukrainian military or government.

Russia denies that war crimes have been committed.

At the time, Russian Defence Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said: "The number and the scale of missile attacks on objects in Kyiv will be ramped up in response to the Kyiv nationalist regime committing any terrorist attacks or diversions on the Russian territory."

The invasion started as Russian troops entered Ukrainian sovereign territory on February 24 under the guise of a ‘special military operation’.

Whilst they have been met with significant resistance from those within Ukraine and sanctions and lethal aid from those without, the war continues to endanger civilians and non-combatants.

Russia’s foreign minister Sergie Lavrov has also said that the ‘danger is serious’ of a nuclear war.
