T-Shirts that Rudy Giuliani has signed and depict 9/11 have been slammed for being 'absolutely loathsome'.

The New-York-based radio station WABC, where Giuliani regularly features, is retailing the shirts for $911.00, or £677.01.

The shirt, which is available to purchase in red, white and blue, reads: 'Never forget. 20 years. Remembering & Reuniting. With Rudy Giuliani.'

The website explains that 'a portion of proceeds go to the WABC Radio Foundation, a 501c3 charity,' but fails to detail exactly how much will go to charity.

American news presenter John Avlon said on air of the charity fundraising method: 'It is loathsome. It’s a total disrespect for the dead. It has not been going on for a while. It is a departure and a further descent for Rudy from principles he once would have held.'

Others have taken to Twitter to share their distaste in the T-shirts promoted by the former Mayor of New York City. 'I didn't think it was possible to have a lower opinion of Rudy Giuliani until I learned he's selling autographed 911 tee shirts for $911. Utterly appalling,' one social media user wrote.

Another added: 'Something went very wrong for him to become mayor of New York. I can't believe he only became this awful after sustained contact with Trump.'

'This is reprehensible! As if I wasn’t already disgusted with Rudy,' said a different user on the platform.

@ROYAN44 wrote of the matter: 'Selling signed 9/11 T shirts! Wow! What an absolute out & out scumbag! You are an immoral A** H*** ! An embarrassment to the U.S. with your hair dye and your pathetic Tough guy image! What a piece of s***.'

The radio website is still currently retailing the T-shirts.

This controversial fundraising method couldn’t have come at a worse time for Giuliani. The Trump ally currently faces a $1.3bn defamation lawsuit from Dominion Voting Systems, with the company alleging that he 'manufactured and disseminated' a conspiracy theory about their voting machines.
