Russia Attacks Ukraine As Putin 'Declares War'

Russia has launched a 'full-scale invasion' of Ukraine, according to reports

Russia has launched a 'full-scale invasion' of Ukraine, according to reports.

A Ukrainian government official has spoken of cruise missile strikes earlier this morning on Kyiv, and says that there have been troop movements in the country's southern port city of Odessa.

They also say that Russian army units have been crossing the border in Kharkiv.

Local media in Ukraine report that Ukraine's Interior Ministry says missile strikes have attacked Ukraine's military missile command centres and military headquarters in Kyiv.

Russia's defence ministry, however, denies attacking Ukrainian cities, claiming it is targeting military infrastructure, air defence and air forces with 'high-precision weapons'.

As per the BBC, 'early signs according to witnesses and government officials are that this is something quite large-scale'.

Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky is asking his national security and defence council to declare martial law.

Ukraine's foreign minister, Dmytro Kubela, has tweeted, 'Putin has just launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Peaceful Ukrainian cities are under strikes.

'This is a war of aggression. Ukraine will defend itself and will win.

'The world can and must stop Putin. The time to act is now.'

As per Sky News, Ukraine's Border Guards Service has claimed the country has been attacked by Russian troops from Russia, Belarus, and Crimea.

They added that the attacks against border units, border patrols and checkpoints are being carried out with artillery, heavy equipment, and small arms, they added.
