In the past few moments Salford University, just a few miles outside of Manchester City Centre, have announced they are evacuating numerous buildings.

The news came via a tweet from the official university Twitter site which claimed New Adelphi, Lady Hale and Clifford Whitworth library had all been evacuated.

At the minute the reason behind the evacuation remains unknown, however rumours are claiming a suspicious package was found, and of course tensions across the entire Greater Manchester area are incredibly high following yesterday evening’s attack.

As the evacuation took place a Youtuber uploaded a video purporting to show students and staff fleeing in high numbers towards the train station.

In case you didn’t know – just after 22:30 last night, a suicide bomber by the name of Salman Abedi detonated his suicide belt as thousands of young people began to leave an Ariana Grande concert at Manchester Arena.

So far 22 people have been confirmed dead with reports suggesting up to 120 are injured in hospital.

Abedi reportedly grew up in the Whalley Range area of Manchester, just yards from the local girl’s high school, which hit the headlines in 2015 when twins Zahra and Salma Halane  left their homes and moved to Isil controlled Syria.

Our thoughts go out to all those affected by last night’s horrendous and cowardly attack.

UPDATE: Salford University has since re-opened.
