A man has shockingly admitted – on live TV – that he murdered and raped a four-year-old girl.
Himmet Akturk admitted to the horrific crime when host Muge Anli piled on the pressure with a barrage of questions on her TV show, reports The Mirror.
Anli was investigating the disappearance of Irmak Kupal, who went missing while playing outside her home in the Alasehir district of Turkey’s Manisa Province.
She asked Akturk to appear on the show which specialises in investigating family dramas, and he agreed. But the crew were left astonished when Akturk broke down, admitting responsibility for the young girl’s death.
He was immediately arrested by police and has now allegedly made a full confession, apparently telling officers he raped the little girl before strangling her.
He is then alleged to have stashed her body in a sack underneath his wheelbarrow before throwing her body in a bin.
Police say the following day he realised the dumpster hadn’t been emptied, and so removed Irmak’s body before burying her in a nearby vineyard, where her remains were discovered two days later.
Officers working with police dogs also found hair and blood, believed to be from the girl, at Artuk’s home.
The footage was shown during Artuk’s trial where he was found guilty with a further hearing due to determine his sentencing.
