Sinead O'Connor has suggested that she may never perform again following the death of her son, Shane.
Seventeen-year-old Shane, the son of O'Connor and musician Donal Lunny, took his own life in January.
Following the tragic incident, O'Connor was quick to clear up with fans that she does not intend to perform again anytime soon, if ever.

The Nothing Compares 2 U singer announced her son's passing on January 8, days after the teen was reported missing from a hospital in Dublin.
O'Connor, who changed her name in 2018 to Shuhada’ Davitt, said, 'My beautiful son, Nevi’im Nesta Ali Shane O’Connor, the very light of my life, decided to end his earthly struggle today and is now with God.
'May he rest in peace and may no one follow his example. My baby. I love you so much. Please be at peace.'
The funeral took place a week later, and reportedly O'Connor and Lunny were the only two in attendance, as per Shane's request.

Speaking after the funeral, the singer said, 'We just said goodbye to our beautiful angel, Shaney. Very lovely Hindu ceremony.'
She went on to say that 'Shane will have loved it', and also revealed that she 'put a few packs of fags in the coffin for him in case there’s none in heaven.'
O'Connor then tweeted fans about the future of her live performances.

She wrote, 'Just to say, suggestions there’ll be any performances this year or next year or ever again are erroneous. There will never be anything to sing about again.'
Fans were quick to respond, with one writing, 'Look after urself we are all here for u if u decide to sing again. Please keep in touch we worry [sic].'
O'Connor also retweeted a tribute to her son and condolences from her fans.
One wrote, 'Hi, I had the privilege to get to know Shane as I was in [Linn Dara Inpatient Unit] with him for a month or so. He always wanted to see everyone else happy before himself. I miss him dearly. May his gentle soul rest well and enjoy his fags up there just like he did when he was here.'

Another tribute read, 'Fresh grief is vicious. So many women are holding space for you and your son. One moment at a time.'
She thanked those who had reached out for their kind words.
