The world’s most expensive meal will be served in a luxury balloon in space

Foodies had better get saving if they want to experience one of the most unique dining experiences ever.

Now, if you like to go to restaurants or take to Instagram anytime you're about to chow down, you might just turn green with envy when you realize you might never get to try the ultimate dining experience.

And I don’t mean your usual expensive dining experience, which consists of sitting at a posh-looking table in some exclusive restaurant - as lovely as that can be.

Rather, some people will have the opportunity to look at planet Earth as they tuck in to their food as they dine from outer space.

This elite dining experience will take eight people up into orbit using a space balloon for a Michelin-starred meal.

Spaceship Neptune is a space balloon designed by Space Perspective and for a pretty penny guests can relax in a seated lounge for an out of this world experience.

According to SpaceVIP, Michelin-starred Danish chef Rasmus Munk is working on the menu as we speak. As well as a meal, guests will also have access to a cocktail bar and snacks.

The balloon will also have a bathroom and Wi-Fi connection so you aren’t completely cut off from the Earth below.

But if you were thinking to sign yourself up, you might want to take out a loan before you send them through your deposit as the six hour experience will set you back around $500,000.

Who can blame them? I imagine going up into space is on the expensive side, and Michelin-starred meals often cost a pretty penny.

The journey will see diners launched from Marine Spaceport (MS) Voyager or from land on Florida’s Space Coast and rise to about 100,000 feet approximately above 99 percent of the Earth’s atmosphere.

After reaching the peak, the balloon will then descend and the journey will take about 6 hours total.

Explaining the journey, the company has said it will likely change your outlook on life.

“Space Perspective has designed your journey to be exhilarating and celebratory, with ample time for quiet contemplation,” it says on their website.

Unfortunately, tickets were initially rumored to be a lot cheaper, in the range of $100,000-150,000, but it seems in the end this wasn’t the case.
