Anyone who’s been following the case will know this isn’t a standalone incident, as fans have been clamouring to get inside the highly publicised trial ever since it started on April 11.

According to The Washington Post, just 100 spectator wristbands are made available from 7.00am each morning, meaning the press have had to battle it out with the public.

The outlet reported that one journalist even offered $50 to someone for a wristband after arriving late.

Other reports have shown dedicated Depp fans going as far as to camp outside of the courthouse in order to secure a space in the queue before sunrise.

The highly publicised court case has amassed widespread attention on social media, with many sharing their support for the Pirates of the Caribbean star.

Elaborating further on why they’re going to such lengths to get a coveted wristband, one fan told People: "My friends think I'm insane for doing it but I think it's a historic trial and I think it's really interesting that it's taking place in Northern Virginia. Someone got here last night [at 9pm] to get the first spot."

Another admitted she’s spent around $30,000 on expenses in order to be present for the trial, stating: "I took my whole year's vacation so I could be here for Johnny. I'm the same age as Johnny. I'm single, so I do what I want to, basically."

Despite the hefty hit to her bank account, the woman said she has ‘no regrets’, adding: “I'd regret it more if I wasn't here."

Today marks day 18 of Depp’s defamation trial against Heard where he’s seeking $50 million in damages for domestic abuse claims she made in a 2018 op-ed for The Washington Post.

Although the Aquaman star didn't name Depp in the article, his case states that the piece ruined his reputation and career.

Heard has since countersued for $100 million, accusing Depp and his team of orchestrating a ‘smear campaign’ against her in light of details of their marriage going public.
