Ever since the announcement that New Line Cinema were rebooting Stephen King’s IT information and teasers have been scarce, however it seems like now there’s going to be a mini-series documentary coming out based on the original film.
Clowns have always been scary, period. I don’t care whether you’re Ronald McDonald or Krusty the Clown, if your ambition in life is to be a clown you’re a terrible human being who deserves all the bad things in life to happen to you.
That being said the source of my irrational fear of clowns, and possibly everyone else, stems from the film adaptation of Stephen King’s IT.
With a reboot due out on September 8, it’s been announced that a documentary-series centered around the original 1990 film is in the works titled Pennywise: The Story of IT.
Dead Mouse Productions, who have worked on shows such as You’re So Cool, Brewster! The Story of Fright Night, RoboDoc: The Creation of Robocop and The First Lecktor: An Interview with Brian Cox, will be taking on the mini-series. Furthermore, it’s been confirmed that Tim Curry who played the original nefarious clown, Pennywise, is set to be involved.
Tim Curry, who suffered a stoke last year, is a well accomplished actor in his own right but has hardly spoken about one of his most iconic roles ever, so his contribution to the documentary is a BIG DEAL .

Just like the upcoming reboot not much information has been revealed about the documentary, but considering Dead Mouse Production’s previous works on iconic late 80’s to 90’s cult films expect there to be a treasure trove of unseen footage and behind-the-scenes stories.
The Reboot of IT has already previewed at this year’s SXSW, with audiences apparently leaving the sneak-peak screening ‘screaming’.
The new film, which has been directed by Andrés Muschietti, will star Bill Skarsgård as Pennywise, alongside Finn Wolfhard, Javier Botet and Megan Charpentier.
I will not be watching.
