Having only recently flown back from a holiday in Italy myself, the thought of being trapped on a plane as one of the wings bursts into flames, is pretty fucking terrifying – and this video really hammers it home.
This petrifying footage was captured by a passenger who was travelling on the Singapore Airlines flight to Milan earlier this morning when an oil spill caused one of the wings to erupt into fire, reports the Mirror.
The plane had returned to Singapore’s Changi airport following a warning about engine oil and fortunately everybody on board was unharmed.
Apparently, the aircraft’s right engine caught fire after the Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, touched down at Changi airport at around 6.50am (10.50pm GMT).
A spokesman said:
Passengers disembarked through stairs and were transported to the terminal building by bus. Passengers will be transferred to another aircraft which is expected to depart for Milan later today.
Well that’s put me off flying again anytime soon.
