Tessa Thompson Apologises For Leaked Thor: Love And Thunder Selfie

Tessa Thompson has apologised to Marvel and Disney for leaking Valkyrie’s Thor: Love and Thunder costume

Tessa Thompson has apologised to Marvel and Disney for leaking Valkyrie’s Thor: Love and Thunder costume.

In January, a photo of Thompson wearing Valkyrie’s new armour surfaced on the internet, and it appeared as though the star had taken the snap herself.

Thompson has now explained exactly what happened, revealing she sent the photo to her stepmum, who posted the image on Instagram.

Speaking to Fandango All Access, Thompson said: “I sent a picture to my stepmom and she posted it on Instagram. Yeah, [it] wasn’t me and it’s a big thing. She feels terrible.”

She added: “I’m so sorry, Marvel. I’m so sorry, Disney. It’s not my fault. I will never – I’m never gonna send selfies again.”

Thompson appeared alongside the film’s director, Taika Waititi, and star, Chris Hemsworth.

Hilariously, Waititi likened Thompson’s slip up to Mark Ruffalo’s accidental live streaming of Thor: Ragnarok back in 2017.

Ruffalo famously left Instagram open in his front pocket during a screening of the film. Moments earlier, he’d been promoting the blockbuster on the app, and forgot to close it before sitting down to watch the movie.

Waititi revealed he was actually sitting right behind Ruffalo when it happened, saying: “[Thompson’s photo] was nowhere near Mark Ruffalo. I was behind him at the premiere when he had his phone in his pocket.”

Waititi continued: “Someone said ‘livestream you coming to the premiere’ and he was like ‘great’. [He] sat down with his camera pointing out his pocket at the screen.

“Someone ran in after ten minutes and pulled the phone out of his pocket.”

Thor: Love and Thunder is one of the most highly anticipated films of the year and is due to hit cinemas on 8 July, however, fans may be surprised to hear the release will be one of Marvel’s shortest in years.

According to film listings from AMC and Cineworld, the new Thor film comes in at one hour and 59 minutes, a run-time that’s left fans sceptical.

Taking to Twitter, one wrote: “Needs to be 59 hours, this is too minimal." Another added: "On a knee-jerk reaction this feels like it’s gonna be too short. Like it didn’t need to be 3 hours but 2 h 15-2:30 always feels like enough."

A third chimed in: "Reminds me of the 2000s when most of Fox's Marvel films (X-Men, Fantastic Four) were around 1hr45mins long. Back in 2006, X-Men fans were hoping The Last Stand was over 2hrs long. But it was 1hr45mins, with an 1/2 hr of scenes cut from the film."
