This Guy Spent 15 Years Making A Hyper Realistic Sniping Mod

Heroes Unleashed is an incredible feat – a huge mod for 2001’s original Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon that favours hyper-realistic sniping? Sign me up.

The mod – which has been 15 years in the making – has just entered its final phase of open beta, and is now available as a free download on both PC and Mac.

Apex (the champ behind this huge mod) describes Ghost Recon: Heroes Unleashed as a ‘hardcore tactical realism mod/expansion pack’ for the original classic.

Heroes Unleashed aims to keep realism front and centre for the entire experience, with Apex himself claiming his mod’s weapons ‘perfectly match their real-life counterparts in accuracy, effectiveness, and handling’.

As if that wasn’t bold enough a claim, he also suggests that ‘your AI opponents display terrifying levels of tactical acumen in trying to outwit you’.

As with reality, it only takes one bullet to put you out of action, and you can’t go crying to a magic med kit, or even rely on a HUD for objectives and enemy indicators.

You can download this incredible labour of love (again, it’s free) from GhostRecon.net, or head on over here for more information.
