This image shows the baby-faced hacker who’s suspected of the massive data theft from communications giant TalkTalk.
Last week’s ‘significant and sustained cyber-attack’ on TalkTalk reportedly resulted in millions of customers’ bank details and personal information being stolen, although the broadband provider’s chief executive has since said the attack was smaller than first thought.
Now a photo has been released showing the youngster who’s been arrested in connection with the incident – one of the biggest cyber-attacks to take place in the UK, according to The Mirror.
The 15-year-old boy was arrested on Monday during a raid of his family home in Ballymena, Northern Ireland, where neighbours said six police vans visited the property.
One neighbour who wanted to remain anonymous told The Mirror:
It is just mad. I knew nothing about it until I came home and saw all the police just before 5pm.
They were there for ages. They seemed to be giving the place a good going over. Then they left with bags of equipment.
Friends have said the teenager was ‘quiet’, ‘shy’ and ‘from a good family’. The boy had written online about his ambitions to be a pro video gamer.
He’s been released on bail pending further investigations.
