This Optical Illusion Reveals Whether You Are An Optimist Or A Pessimist

A new study has revealed how to tell if you're an optimistic or pessimistic person by using an optical illusion.

A new study is using an optical illusion to reveal if you're an optimistic or pessimistic person.

Life can have its ups and downs, but as one of my old teachers used to say, it's better to be a radiator not a drain.

Whether you see a glass half full, or a glass half empty, an optical illusion is set to confirm your suspicions.

The Mind Journal shared the illusion, which features an animal, that can tell you all you need to know about your outlook on life.

In order to figure out whether or not you radiate positivity or tend to drain energy from the room, you are required to look at a greyscale image of a cat climbing, or descending, some stairs, The Sun reports.

Your outlook on life is based on whether you see the cat going up the stairs or trotting back down.

The Mind Journal explained: 'This illusion is one of a cat on the stairs. There are two ways of looking at it and the beauty of this illusion lies in the fact that the cat may appear to be either going up the stairs or down based on your perspective.

'You may notice a slight shadow under the overhanging nose of the stair treads. These shadows would only be visible if the cat was going down the stairs towards the viewer who is looking upstairs.'

Mind Journal explained that if the cat is ascending, 'you see potential and you see growth wherever you look'.

While no one can be expected to be one or the other 100% of the time, if you do happen to be feeling fairly optimistic upon viewing the cat, and see it making its way up the stairs, the journal reflected that 'your mind has been trained to look at ways of rising higher in life'.

'So given a situation where you have the choice of rising higher than others or falling to their levels, you would inevitably be the better person. There are clear signs of ambition in you and no one, except yourself, can stop you from going higher in life,' it stated.

However, if the illusion appears as if the cat is descending, 'it may have been based on your experiences in life or just because of the sort of people you may have met that tilted your view of life towards the negative side'.

'This means that you don't trust easily now, you calculate before you commit and you are wary of people who seem too sweet.

'It may just be your way of tackling the world but you are much sharper and shrewd in your dealings, making it almost impossible to trick or deceive you,' the journal noted.

If you believe that optical illusions are a sure reflection of your character traits, then other tests shared by the Mind Journal claim to be able to tell 'your mental age,' and your 'attention to detail' too.
