A veteran’s group has left an extremely powerful message for Trump where they know he’ll find it: On Twitter.

Releasing an ad on MSNBC’s Morning Joe on Monday, Vote Vets called out President Donald Trump by name before posting it on social media.

“President Trump, I hear you watch the morning shows,” the 30-second clip starts as a veteran is seen lifting weights. “Here’s what I do every morning.”

As the camera pans back to reveal he only has one leg, shit gets real:

Look, you lost the popular vote … you’re having trouble drawing a crowd … and your approval rating keeps sinking … but kicking thousands of my fellow veterans off their health insurance by killing the Affordable Care Act and banning Muslims won’t help.

That’s not the America I sacrificed for. You want to be a legitimate President, sir? Then act like one.

The vet zeroes in on two important topics: Trump’s position on repealing the Affordable Care Act and his immigration ban – both affecting millions of people.

The organisation is catering to Trump’s cable-news addiction by placing the ad on morning shows.

VoteVets Vice Chair Peter Kauffmann said in a statement:

Since the White House comment line is down, and Donald Trump hasn’t set up that veterans hotline he promised, we’re going to where we know Donald Trump is listening – Morning Joe, and the other shows that he obsesses over.

He’s going to hear the message of this ad again and again. We’re officially putting Trump on notice.

And they think it’s working. Three minutes after their ad aired Monday, Trump slammed ‘any negative polls’ as being ‘fake news’ they noted.

Trump has yet to directly respond to the call, but it’s no secret that the 70-year-old billionaire doesn’t take criticism well. Those on Twitter (other than Trump), however, seem to be praising the ad – including a retweet from Star Trek star George Takei.

Vote Vets describes itself as a group that focuses on ‘matters including, but not limited to, foreign policy, energy security, veterans’ unemployment, and opening military service to life-long Americans born to undocumented immigrants, as well as continued investment in care for veterans’.

If not before, they certainly have made a voice for themselves now.
