The 18-year-old and her famous older sisters announced the launch of their own individual lifestyle apps, and Kylie’s has smashed.
The initially free-to-download app ‘Kylie’ has already topped Apple’s app store chart and, with her ever-growing celebrity status, donwloads are expected to continue rising.
It hooks users with a week of free content and then hits them with a $2.99 fee to access everything, and people are paying it.
But why is this so innovative?
Well by drawing people to a media interface completely controlled by team Kardashian-Jenner and their publicists, there is no need to utilise a third-party such as Twitter or Instagram to connect with fans, other than to tell them the real story is on their app.
In fact if it continues to succeed Miss Jenner may well never have to do an exclusive interview, a photoshoot, anything you can think of, for anyone but herself.
The Kardashian’s exposed their lives intimately with the world through television and their hit series Keeping up with the Kardashians, now they are assuming control of the source and bringing people directly to them.
As a child of the digital era, born in 1997, Kylie will understand this technology far better than aging celebrities clambering for a younger audience. Likely meaning she will continue to stave off competition by putting the right content out there.
If you haven’t already, get used to seeing a lot more of this young woman.
