A British woman has had quite the culture shock after moving to the US and she has listed all the ‘weird’ differences she’s noticed so far in a viral TikTok.
Olivia Christina, a makeup artist who made the move to LA just last month, took to the platform to reflect on all cultural differences compared to the UK.
“I’ve been living in LA for the past three weeks and there are just a few things that just make me laugh - they’re a bit weird,” the TikTok said.

The first thing she’s noticed is that American struggle with her accent.
Olivia, who is from Manchester, insists that her accent is actually ‘neutral’, leading her to question why no one is able to understand what she’s saying.
“You know it’s not super Northern, not super southern, it’s not really anything but people are so confused,’ she said in a state of confusion.
“They think I’m French, they think I’m Scottish — they just don’t get it.”
The second culture shock on Olivia’s list revolves around her diet after discovering that some of the foods on offer in America taste totally different.

“I don’t care what anyone says, but the chicken here is from another planet,” she said.
“It tastes so weird to the point that I can’t eat it. I can’t eat the chicken here,” she continued. “It is so weird, I don’t like it.”
And that’s not all as the British woman also added that American men seem to be a lot more forward when it comes to flirting, especially those who apparently work for Uber as drivers.
“You can’t get in an Uber without the Uber driver asking for your number,” Olivia claimed. “[Or asking] if they can take you on a date or if you wanna go on vacation with them.”

“Like no,” she said. “I don’t want to do any of those things and why would you think you can ask me that, it’s bizarre.”
And Olivia’s video has started a debate - as culture shocks always do - with people from both sides of the Atlantic weighing in.
Many were quick to challenge her claim that her accent was 'neutral'.

“U have a northern accent,” one person in the comments claimed, while another replied: “As someone norther [sic], she deffo doesn’t have a strong northern accent, deffo more neutral.”
And someone else declared: “Your accent sounds super northern.”
While other users shared their two cents about the accent debacle, with one TikTok user writing: “I’m from the Midlands and lived in Canada the last two years everyone thought I was Australian, more people thought I South African that I was British [sic].”
“What’s wrong with our chickens??” a concerned American commented.

And another person asked her to further clarify the chicken comment, adding: "Like what does it taste like compared to back home? I had no idea it was different."
