The man who masterminded the Tory Party’s 2015 election success has reportedly been included in the New Year’s honours list.
The news has been met with frustration online, with many declaring that the decision demonstrated the cronyism of the honours system.
Alexandra Runswick, director of a campaign group for democratic reform, Unlock Democracy, has spoken of her disgust at the news.
She told the Sunday Times that the decision ‘demeans the honours system and undermines trust in politics.’
The honours system is supposed to be about rewarding public service. David Cameron is using it to reward a lobbyist.”
The internet is also less than impressed.

#LyntonCrosby knighted for service to the state is the equivalent of giving a Michelin Star to Burger King for culinary excellence

Lynton Crosby awarded knighthood for public services. Since when has election strategy been a bloody public service? https://t.co/opOm4HevRb

The first political own goal for 2016, and we haven’t even reached the new year. Big tick to the Tory government for efficiency I guess.
