Donald Trump has sent an incredibly threatening tweet to Vladimir Putin and Russia with regards to their relationship with Bashar al-Assad, the controversial President of Syria.

In the tweet, Trump has told Russia to ‘get ready’ for missiles while referring to Assad as a ‘gas killing animal who kills his people and enjoys it’.

The tweet was made just hours after the Kremlin vowed to shoot down any missiles which were fired at their Syrian allies.

More specifically the POTUS wrote:

Russia vows to shoot down any and all missiles fired at Syria. Get ready Russia, because they will be coming, nice and new and “smart!” You shouldn’t be partners with a Gas Killing Animal who kills his people and enjoys it!

He later added:

Our relationship with Russia is worse now than it has ever been, and that includes the Cold War.

There is no reason for this. Russia needs us to help with their economy, something that would be very easy to do, and we need all nations to work together. Stop the arms race?

In response to the tweet, the Russian foreign ministry claimed: ‘smart missiles should fly towards terrorists, not legal government’, report the Daily Mail.

However Syria’s government has been under intense scrutiny for the past few years.

All of the above threats come as a direct result of the Syrian chemical attack which occurred on Saturday, April 7 – which killed at least 42 and left countless others with lifelong health issues, report the BBC.

While Britain and France are all desperate to punish Assad for the strike, it appears the US are looking to take drastic action against the Syrian president.

The US Navy has said the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier and its strike group will depart Norfolk, Virginia, on Wednesday for scheduled deployment to Europe.

At the tie of writing, it isn’t certain whether the US will attack Syria, however, just this morning, April 11, a US Navy Destroyer was spotted in the Mediterranean armed with Tomahawk cruise missiles.

Russian defence committee lawmaker, Andrei Krasov, claims:

[A US airstrike on Syria would be treated] not just as an act of aggression but a war crime of the Western coalition.

Just last month, Trump hinted how the US could have him as a president for life.

The reality star-turned-president of the ‘free world’, made the eerie claim to fellow Republicans, during a fundraiser, which was closed to the public.

He was speaking about China’s leader, Xi Jinping – who very recently downright refused to give up presidency or acknowledge China’s two-term limit.

This left Trump to tweet:

He’s now president for life. President for life. No, he’s great. And look, he was able to do that. I think it’s great. Maybe we’ll have to give that a shot someday.

You truly don’t know what the future holds.
