UK Ticket-Holder Wins £109.9m EuroMillions Jackpot

A lottery ticket holder from the UK has had their purchase pay off in a big way, securing the £109.9 million EuroMillions jackpot.

A lottery ticket holder from the UK has had their purchase pay off in a big way as they correctly selected all seven winning numbers to secure the £109.9 million EuroMillions jackpot.

The majority of us will never know what it's like to be a millionaire, and many of those who do know have to put in a good few years of work before reaching the milestone, but the winner of the lottery managed to secure it the second their numbers were announced.

Lottery firm Camelot is urging players to check their tickets for the winning numbers, which are 3, 25, 38, 43, 49, along with the lucky star numbers 3 and 7.

Commenting on the winner's correct selection, Andy Carter, senior winners' adviser at The National Lottery, said: 'What an amazing night for a single UK ticket-holder who has scooped tonight's whopping £109.9 million special EuroMillions Super Jackpot.'

Per BBC News, Carter added: 'Players are urged to check their tickets and give us a call if they think they are tonight's lucky winner.'

On the official Twitter account for the National Lottery, a post reads: 'We’re interrupting your feed to share #winner news. The #EuroMillions jackpot has just been won, check those tickets!'

The winner has 180 days to claim their prize, and with £109.9 million on offer there's really no point in waiting.

Though the winning amount is far beyond what many of us can even comprehend, it does come close to the top five highest UK winners. The record for a UK participant came in October 2019, when one lucky winner managed to secure a whopping £170 million.

The winner of that particular life-changing figure has remained anonymous, while the highest named winners are Colin and Chris Weir from North Ayrshire, who in 2011 won £161 million.

EuroMillions numbers are drawn every Tuesday and Friday, with players given the option to either choose their own seven numbers or to have their numbers selected at random. Participants can play up to seven lines of numbers and buy up to 10 pay slips at a time, according to the National Lottery website.

Taking home the jackpot requires a player to have correctly selected all seven numbers, as is the case with the most recent draw, though players can also be rewarded with lesser amounts for having other correct sequences, such as five main numbers or four main numbers and two lucky stars.
