Ukraine: Citizens Use Social Media To Show Terrifying Blasts Of Air Raid Sirens Across Country

Ukrainian citizens have taken to social media to reveal what it feels like to be in the country amid Russia's invasion.

Since Russian president Vladimir Putin's commanding of troops to cross the border into the country this morning, Ukraine has been in a state of disarray.

From waves of missiles and huge explosions, to planes and helicopters being shot down, over 200 attacks have so far been carried out by Russia.

Citizens of Ukraine have since taken to social media to document their experiences.

Citizens in one of the country's largest cities, Kharkiv, were urged by their mayor not to leave their homes following the sounds of explosions. Sirens have also been heard ricocheting across the country, with the sound reportedly even reaching the Polish town of Medyka.

A TikToker who goes by the username @yuriilazarenkoo - who claims to currently be in Ukraine - has taken to the platform to share a narrated livestream of the view from his window.

In the video, a siren can be heard sounding across the country as well as sounds of distant explosions, with lights seen flashing in the distance.

Another video shared by a user named Igor Vitaliy shows what appears to be a more urban area, however with the similar sound of sirens echoing in the background.

Hundreds of thousands of other TikTokers have flooded to the livestreams in support of those living in Ukraine.

It is still unclear just how many casualties and fatalities have so far amassed as a result of the invasion, although it's reported the numbers include both troops and civilians.

There have also been conflicting reports from Russia and Ukraine's military forces as to how many aircraft have been downed, and personnel killed.

In the latest update, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has accused Putin of attempting to capture Chernobyl, after having 'taken Antonov Airport' following a 'fire fight'.

NATO has since announced its deployment of additional air, land and sea forces to eastern Europe, and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has unveiled a series of new 'massive sanctions' against the country to 'strengthen NATO's defences' even further.

Meanwhile, President Joe Biden announced further 'severe sanctions' to be doled out by the US and its allies in a public address at 6.30pm GMT.
