Ukraine: Rudy Giuliani Blames 'Demented' Joe Biden For Russian Invasion In New TV Interview

Former mayor of New York Rudy Giuliani has blamed US president Joe Biden for Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Former mayor of New York Rudy Giuliani has blamed US president Joe Biden for Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Giuliani gave a TV interview shortly after Russia began its invasion of Ukraine this morning, February 24.

In the interview, Giuliani, who has been an avid supporter of former president Donald Trump, suggested Biden was to blame for the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

During his interview with Newsmax, Giuliani said Biden did everything he could to 'create' the developing situation in Europe.

'Biden came in and he said... let’s test him, he looks like a weakling, he’s always been a weakling,' Giuliani said, in reference to Russian president Vladimir Putin.

He then proceeded to claim that Biden's 'cabinet secretary said he’s never gotten anything right in foreign policy. He was always a dope – and you don’t think they don’t think he’s demented', The Independent reports.

Giuliani added that Russia aren't 'silly liberal fools like in America who lie to themselves'.

Rounding off his comments Giuliani said, 'so this was going to happen and he did everything he could to create it'.

This isn't the first time Giuliani has taken aim at Biden.

In an interview with Fox News in 2020, Giuliani claimed the US president 'has dementia' and that 'there's no doubt about it'.

The former mayor then asked his Twitter followers to vote in a poll on whether they thought Biden had shown signs of dementia.

Despite Giuliani's comments, in the weeks leading up to the invasion the US said it wanted to forge 'serious diplomatic path forward'. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said, 'The ball is in their court. It remains up to Russia to decide how to respond. We're ready to decide either way', NBC News reports.

However, following the invasion of the Ukraine today, Biden was quick to condemn the 'unprovoked and unjustified attack by Russian military forces'.

'Russia alone is responsible for the death and destruction this attack will bring, and the United States and its allies and partners will respond in a united and decisive way. The world will hold Russia accountable,' Biden said.

In an earlier statement, Putin said, 'To anyone who would consider interfering from the outside: if you do, you will face consequences greater than any you have faced in history. All relevant decisions have been taken. I hope you hear me.'

Biden is expected to address the US later today.
