UN Votes To Declare Trump’s Jerusalem Decision ‘Null And Void’

The United Nations General Assembly has declared US recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital ‘null and void’.

The vote was 128 to 9, with thirty-five countries abstaining from the vote. The UK voted ‘yes’ in disagreement with President Donald Trump’s decision.

Palestinian Authority leader Mahmoud Abbas’ spokesman Nabil Abu Rdainah described the vote as ‘a victory for Palestine’.

He said:

We will continue our efforts in the United Nations and at all international forums to put and end to this occupation and to establish our Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Rwanda, Uganda, South Sudan, Malawi, and a number of Caribbean and Pacific island nations all abstained from the vote, The Independent reports.

Canada, Ukraine, Australia, and Mexico also decided to step back from the debate.
