The U.S. have just confirmed that they believe North Korea has created a miniaturised nuclear warhead that can fit inside their missiles – capable of reaching the U.S. mainland.
The report obtained last month by the Defense Intelligence Agency also stated a belief the rogue state has ‘at least 60 nuclear weapons’, reports The Washington Post.
Although talk of North Korea and nuclear war have been teetering on the lips of politicians for what feels like forever, this news suggests that the military prowess of North Korea is expanding much quicker than first expected.
As reported by The Washington Post, the report said:
The IC [intelligence community] assesses North Korea has produced nuclear weapons for ballistic missile delivery, to include delivery by ICBM-class missiles.
At the minute it remains unknown if the nation have successfully tested the new miniaturised nuclear warheads, however in 2016 Kim Jong-un claimed they had done so.
As I’m sure you are more than aware, North Korea continues to test ballistic weapons, firing them into the Sea of Japan, like missiles themselves are going out of fashion.
In fact, the nation’s hyperactive approach to weapons testing even led US ambassador to the UN, Nikki Haley, to argue ‘the time for talk is over’.
