Disney’s Indiana Jones performer gets crushed by giant boulder as stunt goes wrong

People were horrified after watching the stunt

Audiences at Walt Disney World Resort were left in shock after a stunt during an Indiana Jones performance suffered a glitch.

The Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular is performed every day at Disney's Hollywood Studios in Orlando, and features some hugely talented performers putting on an epic stunt show.

While it's a highly polished gig, the stunts are all live, which means that they are of course at risk of occasionally going wrong.

And unfortunately, that's exactly what happened during a recent performance. You can watch the moment below:

Writing on TikTok, one person in the audience shared a video of what happened, and explained it was the first time they'd seen the show 'go wrong'.

"This is the first time I’ve seen this show go wrong. The giant boulder is supposed to come out right after the doors open, but fails on the first take," they explain.

"You can see the actor’s confusion."

In the video, the TikToker explains that the boulder was supposed to be released as soon as the door opened, but this unfortunately didn't happen.

Sharing a second clip of what is supposed to take place, the boulder releases from the door, before bellowing down the track and appearing to 'crush' the actor.

People were pretty shook after watching the clip, but fear not - this is actually part of the performance.

While the show makes it seem like the Indiana Jones actor has been crushed, he actually escapes down a little trap door, which is located underneath the boulder.

Meanwhile, the lights come on and the crew rush to the stage before he appears, unscathed.

"I used to work here and this is the exact scene that always happens. And yes they are supposed to run towards him too it’s part of the show," one person wrote.

Another joked: "They must go through a lot of Indys, cause this has happened every time I've seen this show."

Although the 'boulder crush' is part of the act, many TikTokers agreed that they'd never seen the door malfunction.

One wrote: "I’ve seen this show 100s of times. Never seen such a malfunction."

And another said: "Whoever was on boulder duty is in trouble lol."

Meanwhile a third added: "Apparently it was a mechanical failure (i.e, equipment not user error). It can happen. Just glad it wasn’t anything that would hurt anyone."

UNILAD has contacted Walt Disney World Resort for comment.
