Former UFC champion Mark Coleman shares update after risking his life to save his parents from burning building

Mark Coleman has given a health update to his fans and detailed the incident that saw him save his parents from a burning building.

Mark Coleman stormed into a burning building and risked his life to save his parents and their dog in a brilliant moment of heroism.

Mark Coleman’s family home in Fremont, California burst into flames in the early hours of March 12.

The UFC legend then made the brave decision to try and save his parents and get them out of the house.

After successfully getting the pair of them out of the house, he went back into the burning building to save their dog, Hammer, but unfortunately passed out before he could. Sadly the beloved pet didn’t make it.

Thankfully both his parents were not injured in the scary ordeal.

Fans on social media have praised Coleman repeatedly for his efforts but were also left concerned for his own wellbeing.

After passing out, Coleman was airlifted to hospital for smoke inhalation and it was confirmed he was in a critical condition. According to his daughter Morgan, he was fighting for his life.

After initially laughing when seeing his children, he quickly burst into tears as they embraced him and he described himself as 'the happiest man in the world', before explaining what happened on that tragic day.

"Sweet god I'm so lucky," he said.

"I can't believe my parents are alive. I had to make a decision. Once I got out of my room and went to the door it was already horrible, I couldn't breathe. I almost had to go outside, but I went in and got them - I can't believe it."

He added: "I got them but I couldn't find Hammer," as he and his daughters cried at the memory of Coleman's dog who he posted regularly on social media.

After the incident Coleman’s daughters set up a GoFundMe for his living expenses as he continues to make his recovery. So far a whopping $111,000 has been raised.

Social media users spoke of their relief after learning that Coleman is at least on the mend and managed to escape the ordeal with his life.
