Ex-MLB star Danny Serafini has been arrested in connection with the murder of his father-in-law and the attempted murder of his mother-in-law.
Serafini, famously known as a first-round draft pick for the Minnesota Twins, was arrested earlier this week in Nevada following a two-year investigation into the 2021 murder of 70-year-old Robert Gary Spohr and the attempted murder of 68-year-old Wendy Wood.
The arrest confirmation was made on Facebook by the Placer County Sheriff’s Office in California, with Serafini's arrest coming on the same day as suspect Samantha Scott being apprehended in Las Vegas.
The Placer County Sheriff’s Office said in the post that that the arrests come two years and four months after Spohr was found shot dead in his North Lake Tahoe home.

Meanwhile, Wood was "taken to a nearby hospital where she recovered from her injuries," following the attempted murder.
However, she passed away a year later.
The investigation has certainly been a long one, with police saying the 'early stages' of the investigation saw authorities looking at the home's 'video surveillance'.
This subsequently left them with footage of "a hooded male wearing a face-covering and a backpack walking to the residence several hours before the homicide occurred."

"Since then, PCSO detectives have worked tirelessly over the course of the past two years, devoting countless hours of follow up by detectives, along with the DA’s Office," the sheriff's office continued on Facebook.
"The information and evidence detectives gathered led them to identify Serafini and Scott as the suspects; both suspects are known to each other and to the victims."
Serafini and Scott will now be extradited from Nevada to California.

Serafini certainly became a bit of an MLB veteran in his time playing, after notching up an impressive 104 games between 1996 and 2007.
His appearances came for six different teams, including the Minnesota Twins.
