Was Viral Video Of Toddler Saving His Brother From Wardrobe Fake?
The internet went into a frenzied melt-down this week as footage showing a two-year-old rescuing his brother from underneath a dresser emerged.
No-one could quite believe the tiny tot would have the strength to lift a chest-of-drawers high enough, after it collapsed on top of the pair when they were playing.
Now it seems that even more people are sceptical about the little boy’s feat of super-hero strength and believe the whole thing was conveniently set up, according to the Daily Mail.
Some viewers found it strange that the drawers were empty, there were no adults around and the camera was oddly positioned on the drawers rather than anything else in the room…
The parents shared the footage to raise awareness of safety in a children’s nursery when it comes to furniture, but they’ve been met with critics who have cast doubt on the legitimacy of the shocking video.
People have found it strange that the twins dad, Ricky, works for a home-monitoring company, causing speculation that the whole thing is a hoax.
This whole thing is a scam. The father works for the video company.
Others have found it odd that the parents didn’t hear the supposedly heavy unit falling onto the ground.
HOAX! Come on people, nothing in the drawers! Dad works for Cam company! Cam facing wrong direction! No one comes right away! FRAUD. 15 minutes of fame.
The family, however, are adamant it was a genuine accident and not a fabrication.
The boys’ mum claimed she ran straight into the boy’s room when she saw the live feed from the nanny cam come up on her phone.
I run downstairs, fling open the door, I had heard nothing… I just opened the door and they’re quietly playing in their room in the corner.
We went back and looked at the video because it records all movement, I pulled it up and watched it and we already knew they were OK…
My heart dropped as you can imagine, and I’m like how could this happen? So I’m watching it for like a minute and a half watching it unfold and then Bowdy does what he did and I was just like…(shrugs).
We couldn’t believe it, we thought he would be hurt.
Here’s the full video:
Ricky also described why they decided to post the video online and how lucky he believes the couple are to have such a brave, quick-thinking young son.
I’ve been a little hesitant to post this. But I feel it’s not only to bring awareness, but it is also incredible.
We are so grateful for the bond that these twin brothers share. We know Bowdy was not alone in moving the dresser off of Brock. And feel blessed that he is ok.
Please make sure all your dressers are bolted and secured to the wall. Please share.
If it was set up though, it could potentially have been really dangerous for the little boy stuck underneath the drawers and surely the parents wouldn’t want to put their children at risk.
There are certainly some strange elements to the footage though. We may never know…
