We Happy Few is a tense survival horror game set in a dystopian version of 1960’s Britian – but if you don’t really fancy experiencing any of that nonsense, you can finish the game in about two minutes.
At the very beginning of the game, you’re presented with a key choice: take your Joy – the pill that keeps everyone in We Happy Few smiling complacent zombies – or refuse and stick it to ‘da man’.
The game is out now through Early Access, and I suspect most of us probably refused to take the Joy because that’s kind of the whole point of the game – I know that’s what I did.
However, those rebels at Kotaku went back to see what would happen if you simply roll over and take the Joy at the start, and the answer is simple: you win the game.
Check it out below. Kotaku just bagged the We Happy Few speedrun world record – congratulations.
Aside from the opening prologue, We Happy Few won’t be getting a proper narrative until the game’s full release (no confirmed date yet).
Still, you can check out our first impressions of the Early Access version here. It’s definitely worth picking up of you’re super intrigued by the premise, but if your inclination is to wait for full release, then go with that vibe.
