Social media users have urged one woman to quit her job at Target after she showed her underwhelming pay rise after five loyal years of service.

At the retail store, payment increases are calculated in a review of the employee's performance and can be anything between 0.05 percent and 4 percent of the employee’s current work rate, according to Comparably.

One of these workers who decided to share their pay rise is Kaitlin Sondae (@kaitlinsondae).
In a TikTok video, she showed how much of her pay Target had bumped up after five years of service.
Sondae was previously making $15.61 per hour prior to receiving her bonus.

However, she now only earns 31 cents more per hour, which in total, means that Sondae will now only be bringing in an extra $12.40 (£9.95) per week, meaning her pay increased by 2 percent.
“OK so I work at Target. I’ve worked here for five years,” she says in her video. “We just did like the reviews, or whatever, so let’s how much I got for my raise.”
In her video, she shows her recent Target 'pay and benefits' slip while speaking over the top using the green screen filter.
“So I was making $15.61. Now I make $19.92 — it’s a 2% raise, and I got 31 cents,” she says before finishing by saying: "Yay".

After sharing her pay rise, TikTok users have flocked to Sondae’s video, urging her to quit her job at Target in order to procure a higher-paying role.
“That’s why I quit after being there two years,” says one TikTok user, who claims to be a former Target employee. “Now I’m getting paid 22.00.”

Another commenter said: “I’m hitting my 5 years at Costco in July. I get paid $29.30 Monday-Saturday and $43.95 on Sundays. With full benefits.”
Another said they get paid '16.75 at Chipotle' and they only started two weeks ago, to which Sondae replied: "Dang!"
"I’d rather move on and find a high-paying job. I am getting $22.50 an hour and my husband gets paid $18.75. We both work as Home Health Aids.” a third said.
One user has even suggested that Sondae switch career paths and start earning $100 an hour being a Delta flight attendant. “They’re hiring like crazy right now.” they said.
