Going on a cruise can be a lovely and relaxing experience, assuming there's no legionella outbreak or food poisoning of course.
But it's safe to say that one thing you definitely do not want to see when on a cruise ship is water coming into your cabin.
Well, one couple were left horrified when exactly what happened while they were on a cruise together.

The video was posted to TikTok on 17 October, and has been viewed some 10 million times since then.
In it you can see water pouring into the hallway of the Carnival Radiance cruise ship as passengers try to save their possessions.
The ship had been off the coast of California when the incident occurred.
But of course the big question that needs to be asked here is, was the water salty?

TikTok user Amber recalled: “At 2am we were woken up with water gushing into our room from the ceiling. It was absolutely terrifying.”
Facebook user and fellow passenger Ryan McGuyer also recounted the incident, saying: “We had over a foot and a half of standing water in the room. It ruined everything.
“That was our first cruise, our kids are traumatised and will never want to go on another.”

So what exactly was happening?
Well, don't panic, it turns out that on this occasion there was no need to get to the lifeboats.
It wasn't seawater that was coming into the corridors, which would have been a very bad sign indeed.
Instead, it the water had actually originated on board the ship.

That's because, according to a statement from Carnival, it was from a burst pipe.
It has affected an era of the ship accounting for less than two percent of the state rooms on board. Unlucky.
The pipe was subsequently fixed after staff were made aware of the problem.

A spokesperson for Carnival told the i that 'a burst water line' caused the flooding. It impacted 'an area of the ship that accounts for less than two percent of its staterooms.'
They added: “The ship’s team members cleaned the area and the pipe was fixed.”
The Carnival Radiance has a capacity of around 3,000 passengers on board, and is 272 metres long.
Carnival Radiance sailed as Carnival Victory from 2000 to 2020, before having a refit carried out in 2021, as well as a new name.
The 13-deck ship has a gross tonnage of more than 100,000 tonnes, and can reach a maximum speed of 21 knots, around 24mph.
