Why is it with every app update everyone gets up in arms about the changes the developers have made?
They start to get all nostalgic, much like their grandparents and say something along the lines of: ‘It was better as it was’ or ‘Why have they changed it?’
The latest software company to feel the public’s wrath is Snapchat, with the majority of their users not feeling the new interface.
Even BRIT nominee J Hus is fuming at Snapchat’s unnecessary adjustments:
Who told Snapchat to be updating their fucking software

However, there’s a way to revert back to the old format thanks to this easy to follow guideline, which comes courtesy of Clare James who shared it via Twitter:

A drawback to going back to the old interface is, if you force quit the app when you re-open it, you’ll bring back the new updated version.
By avoiding force quitting you prolong your time using the older version.
The developers have also warned its users if you reinstall Snapchat you risk losing all your precious memories, so anyone still insisting on using the later version should at least back up their smartphone.
Before reinstalling Snapchat or logging out, make sure Memories are backed up or you could lose them 😔
Settings > Memories > Backup Progress ‘Complete’ means you’re all set. If not, tap to see which Snaps need backing up.
You'll also need your password so you can log back in!

Since the update, thousands of users have signed an online petition to get it reserved.
The change.org petition, which has so far collected more than 418,000 signatures at the time of writing, states:
With the release of the new Snapchat update, many users have found that it has not made the app easier to use, but has in fact made many features more difficult.
There’s a general level of annoyance among users and many have decided to use a VPN app to go back to the old Snapchat, as that’s how annoying this new update has become.
Many ‘new features’ are useless or defeats the original purposes Snapchat has had for the past years. This petition aims to help convince Snap Inc. to change the app back to the basics, before this new 2018 update.
A spokesperson for Snapchat has responded to these criticisms, saying:
Updates as big as this one can take a little getting used to, but we hope the community will enjoy it once they settle in.
While change can be arduous and often painful process it will always be an inevitability.
Best thing to do really is to just embrace it. Or alternatively, you can just stop using it.
