The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild looks like it’s all about variety, and Nintendo has just dropped a new trailer showing off some of the cool new weapons we’ll be using on our adventure.
Tired of Zelda games forcing you to use a standard sword shield as your base gear? Fret no more, as the new open world adventure sees Link using everything from giant broadswords and fire rods to the severed arms of his enemies – that’s pretty hardcore.
Check out the trailer for yourself just below.
The first weapon is a giant broadsword, which (predictably) dishes out slow, powerful attacks that can send enemies flying. This is followed up with a cool looking Axe, which Link utilises with a little more mobility.
Following this, Link goes full loco and starts twatting Bokoblins with a severed arm. Obviously, such a weapon has low durability, but when finished with it, Link can hurl it at foes as one final indignity.
The fourth (and final) weapon shown in the video is a fire rod/wand/stick/whatever that Link can apparently use to set fire to… well, everything.
These four weapons are far from the only tools we’ll be able to use in Breath of the Wild of course, and I’m sure there’ll be a ton of surprises waiting for us when we’re finally let loose on this massive version of Hyrule.
Nintendo also recently shared a video demonstrating a few of the Rune abilities in the new Zelda, which can be used to solve puzzles, fight enemies, or generally fuck around. You can watch that below.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild comes to Nintendo Wii U and NX in 2017.
