Yesterday the world stopped and stared in shock when the realisation of all that is happening in Aleppo was broadcast across news platforms all over the world.
Pro-Regime forces had taken all but two per cent of the besieged city but just how had they done it? By butchering all those who stood in their path. Rebels, civilians, men, women, and children, reports indy100.
Assad and Russian jets obliterated Aleppo from the skies with barrel bombs, parachute bombs and bunker busters -as they have done for many years – paving the way for Russian and Syrian Army troops to go in on the ground.

However what shocked the bulk of people was the UN’s claims they had evidence of regime soldiers breaking and entering into civilian homes before killing everybody inside: men, women, and children.
Late last night an agreement was made for a ceasefire to allow civilians to flee the city however already there are numerous reports the ceasefire was short-lived.

Fighting between the rebels and the regime in Aleppo has been going on for years ever since the Syrian uprising in 2011. However, as well as loss of life, the great ancient city has also suffered greatly from the heavy and constant bombardment.
These photos, provided by the Olympia Restaurant in Aleppo, sum up that damage better than any words ever could:

And do you know what’s most shocking? These pictures were taken two years ago. The damage done today is at least double the damage captured in these photographs.
Let us hope one day we learn not to simply destroy.
