Donald Trump Says Piers Morgan's Show 'Bombed' After His Interview

Donald Trump issued a statement yesterday, 1 May, to say that Piers Morgan's new show 'bombed' following their interview.

Morgan interviewed Trump on 25 April, in the first episode of his new show Piers Morgan Uncensored.

Viewing figures from the new show – on the newly-launched Rupert Murdoch-owned network TalkTV – dropped significantly after Trump's interview, from a peak of 400,000 during the interview to just 216,000 the following day.

Trump sat down for a more than 70-minute interview, split into two parts, in which the pair had some pretty odd exchanges.

The interview started off how you'd imagine, with Morgan and Trump going back and forth sharing their controversial views like it was an awful game of Top Trumps.

While the interview saw a few tame discussions between the pair, with questions like would Trump run for president again in 2024, to which he responded: "For reasons of campaign finance and everything I'm not allowed to say but let me just say this, I think a lot of people are going to be very happy."

However, the interview soon started to derail, with TRUTH Social creator Trump telling Morgan: "I don't think you're real. I think I'm a much more honest person in most ways."

Morgan, seemingly confused by the statement, asked, "Why am I not real?" To which Trump replied: "We're not gonna get into that, let's finish up the interview."

Viewers were then shown a clip of Trump walking out of the interview in a teaser for the second part of their conversation.

Trump, it seems, wasn't happy with the portrayal of him on the show, releasing a statement claiming Morgan 'attempted to unlawfully and deceptively edit his long and tedious interview with me'.

Morgan insisted the promo was not 'fake news' and encouraged the former president to pick up the phone and have a 'virtual cup of tea' with him.

Now, Trump has come out seemingly to rub the ratings fall in Morgan's face.

In a statement, the ex-president said: "Ratings for the Piers Morgan interview with me were great!

"Unfortunately, after that interview, his show bombed completely because of the fake narrative he tried to portray.

"The fact is, I got a new close-up glimpse at Piers, and he no longer has what it takes. It’s over for him!"
