Tesla CEO Elon Musk has made a political U-turn and pledged to vote for the Republican party despite voting for the Democrats in the past.
As always, the billionaire caused a bit of a stir online by taking to Twitter to announce he's switching allegiances while also claiming the Democrats are the party of ‘division & hate’.
He tweeted: “In the past I voted Democrat, because they were (mostly) the kindness party.

“But they have become the party of division & hate, so I can no longer support them and will vote Republican.
“Now, watch their dirty tricks campaign against me unfold."
His admission also shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise as the founder of SpaceX has progressively hinted at his disdain toward the far-left.

Musk sent out a tweet last month that outlined a diagram of where he sees his views sitting on the political spectrum.
The diagram depicted Musk sitting casually to the left of the political centre back in 2008, but shows the liberals progressively drifting further and further left while his political views remained the same.
As a result, Musk believes his modern-day views now lean more right of the centre, despite not changing since 2008.
In his latest tweet, he’s now affirmed that he does indeed side more toward the Republican party.

The should-be future owner of Twitter has been a vocal critic of the Biden administration for their proposal to tax billionaires and provide more tax incentives to union-made electric vehicles.
Musk also recently announced that he would look at reversing the Twitter ban on former US President and Republican leader Donald Trump when he buys the platform.
It seems ‘division & hate’ don’t apply to former Presidents who were accused of inciting violence and spreading election misinformation.

Musk called the original move to ban Donald Trump following the Capitol insurrection a 'morally bad decision and foolish in the extreme'.
Conservatives have also seemingly benefited from Musk buying Twitter, with personalities such as Donald Trump Jr, Tucker Carlson, and Ron DeSantis seeing their follower count significantly grow.
Meanwhile, the likes of Bernie Sanders, Michell Obama, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez have seen their follower count drop.

Musk’s latest conservative-leaning admission has also seemingly already gone against an initial promise when he bought Twitter as well.
In April, he tweeted: “For Twitter to deserve public trust, it must be politically neutral, which effectively means upsetting the far right and the far left equally.”
Hard to be politically neutral when you’re out there letting 93 million followers that the Democratic party is full of hate.
