This kindhearted man took an old lady under his wing to live her final days with him and it’s ridiculously touching.

Actor Chris Salvatore – who is 31 – invited poorly Norma Cook, who is 89 and suffering with Leukaemia, to come and live with him.

The pair started out as neighbours in Hollywood and have been inseparable ever since, People reports.

Sadly, doctors explained to Norma she would need round-the-clock care, so Chris decided to step upto the plate and become her primary carer.

He said:

I love her, she’s my best friend. I would do anything for her.

I believe that human kindness is a magical thing and can heal what doctors can’t.

Norma reading about herself in the World Tribune this morning is the cutest thing! ❤?? #nmrk #myneighbornorma

The unlikely duo initially met when Chris moved into Norma’s block of flats four years ago.

Heartbreakingly, Norma was diagnosed with the life-threatening illness a decade ago and has no family in the area, as she divorced at 43 and never had children.

So Chris decided to set up a GoFundMe page to raise the money to cover the costs of her care.

She loves my couch ❤and I love her ??#myneighbornorma

He continued:

Being her best friend for the past four years, you create this bond, and then switching to being someone’s caregiver, well it becomes hard to disassociate the emotional bond you have with someone as you’re seeing them die in front of your eyes.

After a month of fundraising, Chris could be reunited with his best friend, who he describes as a ‘firecracker’ and take her back to his home.

He gushed:

That’s what I love about her.

She is sassy and she tells it like it is. That’s who she is, that’s just her personality and it’s unique and amazing and infectious.

Norma and I are finally watching one of her favorites together! ????#haroldandmaude #myneighbornorma

Chris describes Norma as ‘happy’ in spite of her illness and frailty.

He explained:

She is all there in her head, she’s aware of death, she talks about it, she’s okay with it. She calls me the ‘grandson she never had,’ and we’re just trying to spend as much time together as we can.

Norma tells me, ‘I don’t want you to be the one to find me dead.

It breaks my heart, because I will be the one to find her.

I’m so lucky to have her. She’s changed my life. she’s made me a kinder more compassionate person. I feel honoured to spend her last moments with her.

I love these ladies! @catherinego12 #myneighbornorma ?

The selfless and compassionate neighbour, hopes that his actions and decision to look after Norma will inspire others to do similar acts of kindness.

He said:

I want others to be inspired to be more kind to strangers and neighbours you may see who may seem different than you.

Norma taught me that, and I want others to learn from her.

It’s funny because you think you don’t have stuff in common with someone who is 89. But age doesn’t matter, it’s not something to hold you back from connecting to someone. You never know who could become your dearest friend.
