Amazingly, scientists discovered that knowing what not to look for can actually slow down your reaction time at first.
However, strangely, after the participants in the study had some practice they were able to find the odd letter much more rapidly than those who had not been given a colour to ignore.
It seems the more we practise ‘ignoring’ things, the better we get at finding what we’re looking for.
Hopefully I can ignore my steady growing pot belly and find some inner happiness…
