Ed Sheeran may be partial to the odd social media break, but one person who’s just getting started is his bodyguard.
Kevin Myers – aka Security Kev – is absolutely brilliant on Instagram, which he’s only had since April 7, and has already amassed some 291,000 followers.
Posting photos taken by the paps and embellishing them with hilarious captions such as #I’mTheDaddy, and #AlwaysWatching, he gives an insight into life behind the star, who he refers to as ‘bae’.
Here are just some of the top posts so far:
He’ll no doubt be guarding Ed as he ventures into the world of film.
The Castle on the Hill singer is reportedly in talks to take a leading role in a huge Hollywood hit, written by Richard Curtis, the man who brought us Love Actually, Four Weddings and a Funeral and Notting Hill.
The film is about The Beatles, pride of the United Kingdom’s musical history.
This new comedy, titled All You Need Is Love, follows the story of a man who wakes up one day to find he’s the only person who can remember the songs of The Beatles.
Yet a source close to Working Title, the studio making the film, according to the Daily Mail, said:
Everything Ed touches turns to gold. He is the biggest hit-maker on the planet. If anyone can make a film about the Beatles songs even better musically, it’s him. [sic]
Sheeran is known to be a massive fan of The Beatles. In 2014, he took part in a Grammys tribute to mark the 50th anniversary of The Beatles’ first appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show, in 1964.
He performed an acoustic version of In My Life for a star-studded audience including Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr.
McCartney was so impressed with the performance, he later sent Sheeran a guitar signed: ‘For Ed, who is brilliant.’
Appearing on a Dutch late night talk show recently, Ed revealed you can play any song in the whole universe with just four chords – Em, Cadd9 ( Or C), G and D.
He asked the hosts to name songs and proceeded to play hits from Craig David, The Beatles, Spice Girls, Passenger, Beyonce and Bruno Mars.

As well as busting the myths of the industry for the greater good, Ed made one of his fan’s dreams come true, just before playing to a sell-out crowd in Adelaide, Australia.
One fan planning on going to the gig was Sherie Hagger, who was diagnosed with stage three bowel cancer for the second time in her life in 2016.
Despite booking tickets in May last year, she didn’t think she’d make it to the concert because she felt her body was ‘slowly shutting down’.
My meet & greet with Ed Sheeran is now live on my blog page, you can read all about it by clicking on the link in my bio ? @teddysphotos @frontiertouring #edsheeran . . . . . . . . . #frontiertouring #adelaide #adelaideoval #southaustralia #australia #meetandgreet #fuckcancer #buttwhysherie #bowelcancer #youvegotthis #hope #lovehim #onceinalifetime
The determined 32-year-old managed to make it to the gig and got to meet her hero, who wrote her an encouraging message.
Describing Ed on her blog, Butt Why Sherie, she said:
He’s normal, he’s down to earth, he’s humble, he’s kind, he’s everything I had expected – if not more – plus he genuinely loves his fans.
At the Adelaide concert there were fans camping outside the venue for days in advance to make sure they got prime position! Ed organised for pizzas to be delivered to them.
That act of kindness toward his fans doesn’t even scrape the surface.
What an absolute legend.
