American Footballer Plays Just Hours After Losing His Child

American Football player Marquise Goodwin shocked the world after revealing he played just hours after losing his child.

Marquise Goodwin shared the news he and his wife lost their baby boy due to complications only hours before he strapped on his boots to play the New York Giants.

The San Francisco 49ers wide receiver posted to Instagram in an emotional story, which showed a picture of him holding the baby’s hand.

He wrote there were complications in his wife’s pregnancy which meant the baby boy had to be delivered prematurely. He commended his wife for being courageous and resilient in the emotional post.

He wrote:

I just wanna thank those who’ve genuinely prayed for @morganakamomo & myself through out this pregnancy. Unfortunately we lost our baby boy due to some complications, and had to prematurely deliver him early this morning around 4am.

Although we are hurt, I am grateful for the experience and grateful that God blessed me with a wife as courageous and resilient as Morgan. The pain (physically, mentally, & emotionally) that she has endured is unbelievable.

Please Pray for the Goodwin family.

Goodwin went straight on the pitch and scored an 83-yard touchdown against the Giants on Sunday.

He was visibly emotional when he made the touchdown, and fell to his knees and looked to the sky.

He was quickly surrounded by his teammates as they hugged and supported him during the emotional moment.

At the time, it was uncertain why he was appearing so emotional in leading his team to their first win of the season, but now it’s known the emotional strain he was under at the time.

Fans have been flooding to support Goodwin and his family in this difficult hour, posting messages of support on his social media.

There are no words that can help us understand theses types of situations. Just know that you are loved. Ensure your wife feels loved.

Remember that little guy is a piece of you forever. You and your wife are beautiful, loving and gracious people. Time will not heal this wound, but over time, you will learn to live with the loss.

Praying for you and your family. You’re always a champion.

The pair had previously announced their pregnancy in an Instagram post:

Our thoughts are with Goodwin and his family during this horrible time.
