The tragic details of Kimbo Slice’s death have been revealed.
The MMA star died on Monday having been placed on a ventilator in intensive care, due to congestive heart failure.
Real name Kevin Ferguson, the fighter was also discovered to have a liver mass, and it has been reported by the SunSentinel that he was in need of a heart transplant.
The converted street brawler was reportedly set to be transferred to a medical facility in Cleveland where he would be placed onto an organ donor list.
According to information reported to the Broward County medical examiner regarding 42-year-old Slice’s death, he is believed to have no previous history of illicit drug use, nor was foul play suspected as a contributing factor.
Slice had tested positive for steroid use at Bellator 149 where he defeated Dada 5000, who suffered heart and kidney failure after the bout. However, at present, there has been no indication his alleged use of nandrolone was connected to his death.
Former strip club doorman Slice, who was scheduled to fight James Thompson at Bellator 158 in July, is survived by his wife and six children. Our thoughts go out to his friends and family.
