Conor McGregor has finally addressed the question we have all been asking – will he fight in 2018?
Ever since his loss against Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather in his debut fight as a professional boxer back in August people have been questioning whether he will ever fight again.
Until now no one knew the answer but finally Conor McGregor has broken his silence.
According to The Mac Life, the only thing McGregor is thinking about right now is getting back into either a ring or UFC’s famous Octagon.
The Notorious himself, speaking with his sponsor Betsafe, said:
My focus is getting back into the right ring or Octagon. 2017 was historic.
I have transcended both the sport of MMA and boxing. At this stage of my career, as it has been for the majority of my UFC career, potential opponents must lobby for fights with me.
We could see Conor McGregor anywhere. I run the fight game, the fashion game, the whiskey game, or whatever the next business endeavour might be.
I have every intention of fighting in 2018 if my compensation and business development endeavours accurately reflect my influence on combat sports.
This is a man who knows what he is worth and so even though McGregor does want to fight again, he has to feel that his value is met by the world.
And considering how massive he is, I can guarantee you it won’t be long until we see him back in a ring or the Octagon.
Since his last fight against Mayweather was the biggest one in history, anything could be on the cards for McGregor.
The UFC Lightweight Champion has asked for a rematch against the undefeated boxer as long as it takes place in the Octagon.
Believing that this will ensure he gets the upper hand, he is positive he will win this fight.
According to Business Insider McGregor said:
What sickens me is that the little mother f*cker is retired now. If I had another go with him, under boxing rules, I’d get that win.
He had to change his whole approach. With those lessons I learned, with another go around, I’d get it.
He’s 50-0 and getting on, I’m not calling him out. I’ll sit back. We’ll see how he gets on with this round of money.
Maybe I’ll get another call? Originally, he was saying an MMA bout next. That’s what he said before the fight.
He did say an MMA fight. So if he wants to, lets f*cking do it. There’s not a hope in hell… I’d like to see him come over to our side and have a knock.
I earned their respect and put myself out there. Style over to my side and earn our respect now.
According to McGregor, Mayweather has said he was up for it so the idea is certainly not out of the question.
Whoever decides to take on McGregor next will certainly be brave and it will surely be a fight to look forward to considering the entertaining atmosphere the UFC hero always brings.
