Dana White is adamant that any super-fight between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor must go through the UFC supremo.
Rumours have been flying about the prospect of ‘The Notorious’ going toe-to-toe with ‘Money’ Mayweather in a boxing match, with the fighters themselves at the centre fanning the flames.
Mayweather admitted he started the rumours, while UFC featherweight champion McGregor tweeted a mock-up poster for the bout.
White had previously suggested The Sun newspaper was just spreading tabloid gossip, but speaking to The Dan Patrick Show suggested Floyd need only get in touch to discuss the potential match-up.
As reported by MMA fighting, White put it relatively simply:
Conor McGregor is under contract with the UFC.
Listen, if Floyd wants to fight Conor, call me Floyd.
So the extremely unlikely fight has a glimmer of hope as far as the UFC are concerned, but Mayweather didn’t get to where he is today by splitting revenue with another promotion.
Still seems somewhat of a fantasy fight…
