An England rugby player has been arrested on suspicion of raping a teenager, police have confirmed.
Officers were called to reports of a sexual assault on the morning of Sunday, January 9.
A man, who has not been publicly identified but is understood to be an England rugby international, was arrested on suspicion of rape, while a 41-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of ‘administering a substance with intent to cause a sexual offence’.
Both suspects have been bailed pending further investigation.
The Rugby Football Union has declined to comment on the reports.
